Adventure and bush skills after-school program for Year 5 & 6

Learn unique bush skills!!

 

This is a fully funded opportunity aiming to improve young people's well-being, and increase their connections and experiences within our community. It looks at empowering them in readiness for transition to high school

​

Pick up 3.10pm Friday - Dungog Public School

Drop off 6pm Friday - Dungog Public School

​

Takes place over 5 Fridays in Term 2, 2023

23rd, 30th May; 6th, 13th & 20th June

​

Transport and program fully funded.

Maximum 12 Year 5 & 6 students

activities

This is a mentoring program with activities including bushcrafts.

 

Each afternoon participants will cook their own afternoon tea (often on camp fire), there will be short bushwalks, swimming in the river, and nature based games!

location

At Wangat Lodge, 20kms north of Dungog at 1938 Chichester Dam Road,
Bandon Grove

Pick up and drop off will be at Dungog Public School. All transport provided.

Ages

This program is suitable for students in Years 5 & 6

food

Afternoon tea will be provided. Participants will be involved in the preparation and serving of food

Leaders & supervision

The program will be led by Dan Lyons, owner of Wangat Lodge, and qualified Outdoor Leader. He will be supported by other staff

Other info

Students will need clothes appropriate for the bush. Swimmers and a towel. (More details to be given after enrolment)

 

All participants will be required to complete a medical form prior to participating, plus two surveys - one prior to the program and one after

​

Cost

This program is valued at $300. 

​

It is offered free of charge for young people in the Dungog region.

 

The program is funded by Outdoors NSW & ACT through the Youth Resilience Program which has been funded as part of the Bushfire Community Resilience and Recovery Fund.
