Getting more kids outdoors more often
Active Outdoor Kids (AOK) was created in 2021 to expose the opportunities and benefits of active recreation for 7-17 year olds to promote community wellbeing and future disaster resilience following the compounding disasters of the 2019 bushfires, COVID and floods.
The program was initially funded to create programs in 12 communities across the Greater Sydney, North Coast, and Hunter regions to increase awareness of the activities that can be done outdoors that were not just sport and to encourage the youth to consider adding these activities to their weekly / monthly routine. This program had incredible results that increased the children's propensity to do more in active recreation through their invovlement in the program.
Active Outdoor Kids is now offering a service to schools, by providing an enquiry service that is delivered to all Outdoors NSW & ACT members for efficient connection to more outdoor learning and education for schools.
